Idea Proposal

Idea Proposal

Our initial idea is a horror, and will primarily be set in a forest of some sort. The main plot is that one of the character’s cars breaks down in the middle of no where on the outskirts of a forest, then as she goes and gets out of her car to find signal she hears a noise in the forest that sounds like someone needs help. So upon hearing this she ventures of into the forest to investigate the noise she previously heard, also whilst trying to get signal on her phone. She loses her way with her friend in the forest and roams around starting to doubt whether she heard the noise or if it was her imagination, and after thinking upon it she decides to return to the broken down car but they realise they have lost their way in the woods and can’t find their way back to the car. When they think they are going towards the car they are in fact heading deeper in, where they find a sinister looking object dangling from a tree and then suddenly the camera will drop to the floor for a few seconds and then there will be a shot of the two dead bodies as the video blacks out.

Depict Videos

one favorite video is 'Cool Unicorn Bruv'

http://www.depict.org/2013/cool-unicorn-bruv/?category_request=2013

The reasons I liked this is because of the contrast with chavs and unicorns and they manged to fit it in really well with the dialect, it is also overall a funny video so it does what it is made to do which is entertain viewers. Also the camera angles are things such as close ups to show the expression of the guy with the bike and a mid shot to show he has a unicorn so the viewer really gets the full jist of whats going on because if they got the shots wrong it could easily not make any sense for the person watching the clip.

Another favorite was 'Car Park'

http://www.depict.org/2014/carpark/?category_request=2014

This was a good video because again it was quite funny and made sense unlike a lot of the videos on there, also it was made out of something so simple like a shopping trip and turned out all so wrong for the main character. So even though it was a cartoon it is still attempting to relate to real life which it managed to do so very well, also there were twists in the story to keep the viewer wondering what will happen next and if watched you will see it doesn't end up so good.

The 3rd favorite was 'Loose Ends'

http://www.depict.org/2014/loose-ends/?category_request=2014

This was one of the best videos I watched because at the start you have no idea what they're waiting for so as they talk it up you're expecting something really bad and what actually arrives is much different, the camera angles they used in this like the close up with a blurred background to indicate who was talking was also a very good feature.  Also the props and the editing worked really well so the gun shot and the beam of light that comes out of the sky and they were edited in really well. And also the dialogue is really good as well as it keeps you listening and makes you wonder what is going to happen next, also having a stupid person and an experienced person also adds in to the comedy as its such a wide contrast of the two characters. Furthermore after the clip is finished you kind of want there to be another one as you want to find things out like who are they? and why are they there? and who is beamed down and why?

Low Budget Films- The Blair Witch Project

The Blair Witch Project overall was a good film as it had a good story line and interesting characters. but in many aspects it is a low budget film, one reason this is, is because the camera quality isn't amazing at all  and they are all low quality cameras, also the locations they filmed were often used more than once, a prime example of this is the little river or stream they used twice in the film for two different things as it is cheaper than paying for a place to rent out. Also the Props they use are either handmade such as the things hanging from the trees or low budget such as the car they were driving or things they already owned like the Burgans and camping equipment. Also the actors are almost very unknown and most likely just friends of the producers or even the producers and directors themselves. A major giveaway it is a low budget is the fact you don't see the witch its self as that would have been to expensive to animate it or find costumes and props for it.

Another thing that tells you it is low budget is that the special effects was only fake blood and that was it really, and because they only had low budget cameras and not many of them they filmed it in first person and they may not have tripods as they can be expensive.

Induction Task, Change of hands

This is our video induction task, overall it went very well as we got a story across and there is a finished result, but there are some amendments that we could have made. Firstly we spelled Clarence differently in the credits to the actual film. Another thing we could have changed is that the aperture needed to be changed as it was a very grainy looking video. There was also a continuity error as in the first half of the shots Joe doesn't have a plastered eye but in the second half he has a bandage on as he injured himself. Finally in the hallway shots there is the sound of people talking that shouldn't be there.
